Toolbox talks — short, focused safety discussions held before or during shifts — are one of the most effective methods of reinforcing PPE compliance on UAE construction sites. A well-run 10-minute toolbox talk can significantly reduce PPE-related incidents by keeping safety front of mind.

How to Structure a PPE Toolbox Talk

Opening (2 minutes): State the topic clearly. Share a relevant incident or statistic — for example, “Hand injuries accounted for 30% of all reported injuries on UAE construction sites last year.” Keep it relatable to the crew’s specific work.

Core content (5 minutes): Cover one specific PPE topic in detail — proper hard hat inspection, correct glove selection for today’s task, or how to check reflective tape on hi-vis vests. Demonstrate the correct practice. Show examples of what good and bad practice looks like.
