Comparing the Two Major Hi-Vis Standards Used in the UAE

UAE worksites reference two primary standards: European EN ISO 20471 and American ANSI/ISEA 107. Both define requirements for fluorescent material and reflective tape but differ in testing methods.

ANSI/ISEA 107

Classifies garments by performance class (1, 2, 3) and type (O off-road, R roadway, P public safety). Widely used by international contractors in the UAE.

EN ISO 20471

Also three classes with slightly different material requirements. Includes laundering performance requirements. Referenced by European contractors and many UAE government projects.

Which to Follow?
